Sunny Isles Beach is a city located on a barrier island in northeast Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States.. The City is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west.
Living up to its nickname, "Little Moscow", Sunny Isles Beach is a major city of South Florida's Russian community, with Russian stores lining Collins Avenue, which is the main thoroughfare through the city. There are many Russian and Russian-American population who live in the city. It has become a booming resort area and real estate developers like Donald Trump have invested heavily in constructing high-rise hotels and condominium there.
Sunny Isles Beach’s media coverage is served by the Miami-Ft.Lauderdale market in local radio and Television. Sunny Isles Beach has its own newspaper, The Sunny Isles Beach Sun, which is published twice monthly is part of Miami's Community Newspapers, the "Voice of the Community".
Shortly after becoming a City in 1997, the City Commission purchased land and allocated funds for developing City parks. Some of that land was right on the Atlantic Ocean where they created an oceanfront park. There are eight parks located in the city which include Heritage Park, Town Center Park, Pelican Community Park just to name a few.
Sunny Isles Beach is within the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system. All of the schools that serve Sunny Isles Beach are located in unincorporated Miami-Dade County.
The city also enjoys a subtropical climate as does the entire South Florida. During the hot summer months, residents go out to the beach, but would rather sit by their own pools.
